My Tip for Teeth and Nipple Soreness

Breastfeeding stories are many and the experiences as varied as the women that have them. For me the breastfeeding has been a complete joy. I didn't have any real difficulties in getting my boy to latch on at first and we got though those first troublesome days with a minimum of fuss.

For me it was never a question of whether to breastfeed. It is best for the baby to get the mother's milk and therefore it went without saying that breastfeed I would. I strongly advocate breastfeeding for all women, it's the best nutrition you can possibly give your child during those very important first months. And it also helps you shed the unwanted weight after giving birth.

My baby boy is having solids as well by now, but he still loves it when it's time to have a suckle. He often falls asleep while nursing, after having clapped his free hand on the breast for a bit. He also strokes my breast and paws at it, quite like a kitten playing.

It's the loveliest way I can think of to end our day, my munchkin laying in my arms, taking sustenance from me while cuddling up to me.

The only difficulty we've had to overcome in this process was that when he first started teething he sometimes accidentally bit my nipple and as I'm sure you can imagine, that's not comfortable at all.

But after about 3-4 times of me flicking his cheek lightly, but still hard enough to make it felt, when he bit me, he realized that it was not acceptable behaviour and so he stopped it and we've not had any problem with it since.

I still breastfeed my boy, even though he's 8 months old now and intend to do so for quite a bit longer, since it's a wonderful connection for us and we both enjoy it. I reckon we'll keep on with it at least till his first birthday, and maybe even longer.
